a note from kevin

The marriage ceremony is a joyful occasion for family and friends to witness and validate  the joining of two lives in a lovely, intimate, and sacred ritual. I have deliberately chosen to use the words 'joyful" " lovely" "intimate" and "sacred".

JOYFUL: Through careful planning and communication with the bride, I am largely able to eliminate the stress from the photography process. This allows the bride and her guests to remain relaxed and "joyful"  during the photography  sessions.

LOVELY: Throughout the day a professional photographer should continually look to the condition of the bride's hair, make-up and wedding gown. I also make it a habit to communicate with the wedding coordinator to insure that the bride has proper nourishment throughout the photo sessions and up to the moment of the processional. I feel that it is my responsibility insure that a bride looks her very best and feels "lovely".

INTIMATE: A resonance of trust and respect should exist between a wedding couple and their photographer. We should enjoy an easy, relaxed presence in each other's company. This resonance allows me to encourage the couple to become intimate and romantic with one another while I capture delightful images of them laughing, kissing, looking into one another's eyes. Meeting and spending time with the wedding couple prior to the event aids in this process to a large degree.

SACRED: During the ceremony, I strive to be respectful of the "sacred" nature of the wedding ceremony. My objective is to capture stunning images of the ceremony while remaining as unobtrusive as possible. Too many photographers insist on becoming a part of the nuptials.  Nuff Said.

a few other thoughts

"There are no perfect photographs,  however, there are photographs of perfect moments". In my opinion, the merit of a good wedding photographer resides in his/her ability to unobtrusively capture spontaneous, special occurrences.

"When documenting the ceremony, there will be no second chances."

During the wedding event, many remarkable moments will transpire that simply cannot be recreated. Brilliant, unexpected opportunities arise continuously. It is the responsibility of the photographer/videographer to capture these moments as they unfold. Timing, position and anticipation are hallmarks of a true professional.

"When your perfect day becomes a fond memory, you will have each other, and the fantastic images from your wedding day. Or will you?"

You owe it to yourself,  your children and your children's children to responsibly preserve these precious moments for posterity. You may want to rethink your plan to trust your wedding photos to Uncle Bob and his point and shoot camera. Hey! You deserve better. Regardless of  who you hire, hire a professional. You will not regret it.

"Planning, preparedness and experience serve to facilitate the creative process". Organization, deligation, and planning are my strengths. In addition to many years of wedding photography and videography experience, I have over 30 years of film production experience in television commercials, feature films and National Geographic documentaries. Read the endorsement from Gil Grosvenr, Chairman of the Board of National Geographic. I shot his daughters wedding. Read the endorsement of Teresa Ellifritz, Hood River's premier wedding planner and owner of Columbia Gorge Weddings. I shot her 10 year Vow Renewal. Finally take a moment and look at my resume. This is a documentation of my career to this date and your assurance that I am a true professional with the experience to justify your trust.

"Behind every wedding album or video, is a wonderful story" I sincerely believe that your wedding will have all the unique elements of a great story, a story worthy of being told and retold for generations to come."
